In our last ecosystem post – which you can read here – we set out our plans to grow an ecosystem of scaled distribution channels with Boson as the decentralized base layer for the tokenization and exchange of physical real-world assets. These scaled distribution channels are crucial for mass adoption and mutually beneficial to the parties who participate – strategically developing our product features to integrate with certain channels allows Boson access to a new group of customers, and makes it easy for those customers to use Boson.
Web3 x Gaming Bridge – built on Boson
One of the initiatives we outlined was bridging between gaming and Web3. Many of the companies that were innovating in Web3 in the previous bull market have not stopped innovating; they have moved to where the users are: gaming. And of all the games, Roblox is king. It has 200million average monthly users who contribute to an annual spend on virtual goods of $1.5 billion.
Today, we are launching a bridge that enables brands to validate a user’s purchase in Roblox, and allow them to unlock access to buy an additional digital (or even physical) on a brand’s website – effectively allowing brands to connect the virtual and physical world… And providing Boson with a scaled distribution channel to gaming-commerce (which we are calling “V-commerce”) mass adoption.
TL;DR – Boson Protocol can help brands make Roblox a point of sale for brands.
To ensure our product and proposition is understood by non-web3-brands, we have changed our approach in messaging and language to be much more “trad-brand” and client-benefit-lead – so if it feels slightly out of sync with our usual Boson messaging that is why. To achieve traction with trad-brands we need to meet them where they are in terms of language and also meet them in terms of their business needs. Roblox is a highly captive channel, with brands spending significant sums of money to build in-game activations and drive audience engagement but with very little opportunity or reason for their users to interact with them outside of the platform. By integrating Boson Protocol, brands can bridge the gap between these disconnected puzzle pieces.

How it works
-
Sell virtual items in Roblox
With Boson, a brand can offer exclusive, branded virtual merchandise directly to Roblox’s massive and engaged audience. This is an opportunity for brands to connect with a new generation of digital-native consumers by rewarding them across platforms.
-
Claim or unlock exclusive access to purchase real apparel via a brand’s .com
When a user purchases a virtual item on Roblox, Boson empowers brands to use this v-commerce transaction as a means to unlock a physical item on-site or exclusive access to shop physical apparel. Through our integration, a brand’s customers can seamlessly transition from Roblox to the official online store.
-
Effortless Ownership Verification
With Boson, you can easily verify a customer’s ownership of the virtual item. This verification unlocks access to the corresponding physical product, making it simple for your brand to connect virtual engagement with real-world sales.
-
Claim the Physical Version
Once verified, the user can claim or purchase the physical version of their virtual item. You handle the fulfilment just like any other online purchase, shipping the product directly to their door and converting their virtual interest into tangible brand loyalty.
For brands, through the virtue of being “built on Boson”, this gaming bridge gives them a seamless, low-code set up while delivering robust security, reliability and scalability.
For Boson, we continue to grow our ecosystem and position ourselves as the leading decentralized network for tokenizing and trading physical RWAs as Web3 adoption accelerates.
